During the recent Apple event, they finally announced that iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 will be available September 20th. Normally, iOS updates come at around 10:00 AM Pacific Time, which means iOS 15 will probably be available at 1:00 AM Malaysian Time on September 21st.
Here’s the full list of compatible models which also include the iPhone 6s all the way to the latest iPhone 13 series.
iOS 15 features
SharePlay is one of the most highly anticipated iOS 15 features. It allows you to watch TV shows and movies, listen to music, or share your screen during a FaceTime call. Unfortunately, SharePlay will not be included in the first release of iOS 15.
FaceTime also gets a few upgrade including Portrait Mode, voice isolation mic modes, spatial audio, and cross-platform links allowing you to FaceTime with Windows or Android users.
One of the other features included in iOS 15 is Focus mode, allowing you to allow only certain notifications depending on the situation. Your Focus status is also displayed in Messages, letting your friends and family know that you are busy.
A lot of things got cleaner redesigns, like notifications, Maps, Safari, Spotlight, and Photos.
Its visual intelligence got a lot more sophisticated with Live Text allowing you to interact with text in a photo and even translate it. There is also the Visual Look Up feature so you can learn more about the objects in your photos with smart object recognition and searching.
Apple released iCloud Plus which includes iCloud Private Relay for more privacy while web browsing, Hide My Email to generate random email addresses that forward to your inbox, and expanded HomeKit Secure Video support.
If you have a compatible device, iOS 15 should automatically show up in your Settings app on the 21st of September. Alternatively, you can check manually by going into Settings > General > Software Updates.
