GoPro Hero 10 Black leaks reveal same design, but with new GP2 processor and HyperSmooth 4.0

The GoPro Hero 10 Black will officially debut on 15 September 2021. Ahead of the launch, we now get a clear look thanks to a leak which provides a glimpse of its exterior design and features.

Roland Quandt of WinFuture reported on the leak, which showed that the GoPro Hero 10 Black is… not as different as its predecessor. The main visual difference is the bright blue logo, but besides that it really looks remarkably uninspired.

As for the internal features, the action camera will be equipped with GoPro’s new GP2 chip—which is said to “double overall performance” and will deliver “much-improved performance in poor lighting scenarios”. GoPro’s HyperSmooth 4.0 technology is also said to give better image stabilisation and better horizon alignment with a higher slope limit.

The GoPro Hero 10 Black will be capable of shooting 23 MP images, and 5.3K videos at 60 FPS, as well as 2.7k slow-motion videos at 240 FPS. Its camera will also allow the capture of 15.8 MP stills from 5.3K videos.

Other features include a hydrophobic lens coating for protection and minimised reflections, a 2.27-inch touch display with improved sensitivity and a higher refresh rate, a 132-degree field of view that extends to 155 degrees with the Max Lens Mod, a 1720 mAh battery, compatibility with GoPro Hero 9 accessories, and a lower weight at 153g.

To compare it to the predecessor, the GoPro Hero 9 Black has a 20MP camera and uses GoPro’s HyperSmooth 3.0 technology. It also weighs a slightly heavier 158g than the upcoming Hero 10 Black. The current Hero 9 Black’s HyperSmooth 3.0 and Horizon Levelling feature already offers insane stabilisation, and it would be interesting to see how much improvement the new HyperSmooth 4.0 has to offer.

Based on the information in the leaked pictures of the box, the Hero 10 Black supports voice control, water resistance up to 10 metres and webcam capabilities. It also still has display on both front and back, which is convenient for vlogging.

The GoPro Hero 10 Black is expected to be priced at EUR 539.99 (RM2,649.26). The Hero 9 Black’s price currently starts at RM1,799, which is a pretty good deal if you don’t mind forgoing the new features. We’ll have to wait until the launch on the 15th of the month for more details regarding their new updated technology.
