This Puma x Animal Crossing collection will make you want to start playing the game again

Let me start by saying that I’ve never wanted to get sneakers more than I want sneakers from this Puma x Animal Crossing collection. Fans of the popular Nintendo game will be pleased to know that the collaboration will be available starting 18 September 2021 at selected Puma stores in Malaysia.

“The Puma x Animal Crossing: New Horizons crossover takes cues from the beloved game; the collection’s streetwear silhouettes are reimagined with natural colours and authentic graphics from the fun franchise,” writes Puma in their press release.

There are three different shoes in the Puma x Animal Crossing collection—the Wild Rider, the Future Rider, and the Suede. All three of them have distinct features, but they all have basically the same sort of muted colour palette you might be familiar with in the game.

Wild Rider

According to Puma, the silhouette of Wild Rider is “inspired by the movement and motion of city life”. It has all of the colours you would associate with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which are a lot of green and brown with some blue and suede. It also has an embroidered Animal Crossing leaf on the heel.

Future Rider

My personal favourite from the collection, the Future Rider, has a less athletic, more casual appearance to the “Wild” one. It has lighter shades of green and blue, and also an almost pink suede. The shoes include graphics like a palm tree and a sailboat which alludes to the game’s design elements.

Suede

In Puma’s “timeless style”, the Suede features a beige suede design with printed Animal Crossing leaf graphics on the top layer. It also has a a bell bag with additional laces—similar to what the other shoes have as well.

The collection also has “some sharp adventure-ready outfits”. They include short and long sleeve t-shirts, hoodies, shorts, and sweatpants all in the same colour palette, and with some details you would recognise from the game.

The exact price of each of the shoes, as well as the items of clothing in the Puma x Animal Crossing collection in Malaysia has not yet been revealed. But we know that the items range from RM179 to RM579. The Suede and Future Rider shoes are priced at USD 90 (RM373.59) each on Puma’s U.S. website, while the wild Rider shoes are priced at USD 110 (RM456.61). The collection will be available at Puma stores in Mid Valley, Tropicana Garden, Paradigm JB, Atmos KL in Mid Valley, and SoleWhat in The Gardens.
