Galaxy A22: A budget-friendly phone with a great camera system

This post was brought to you by Samsung

Back in June, Samsung announced the Galaxy A22, their new mid-range phone with solid specs and features. With its 48MP main camera and the Super AMOLED display, this phone is quite underrated for what it is.

Being priced at only RM899, the Galaxy A22 has good value and still keeps the attractive features that make Samsung’s budget phones great.

Quad camera system with AI capabilities

The Galaxy A22 has a quad camera system, compared to the triple camera system on the A22 5G. It has a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth camera.

On the front lies a 13MP selfie camera, which can be used to take Selfie focus pictures to highlight your face and blur the background. This front camera has a decent resolution for this price range which usually leads to better picture quality.

The main camera on this phone uses Tetra Binning technology allowing four times as much light coming in the lens, which effectively leads to brighter and clearer pictures in low-light situations.

When it comes to the software side, Samsung added in the Camera AI function that recognises the scene and applies the best setting for the situation. An example of this would be suggesting the Ultra Wide mode when it recognises large landscape scenes.

Fun design with a bright, sharp display

This phone features a 6.4” HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 600 nits. AMOLED often gives you better colours, deeper blacks, and a more responsive feel. To show why they might be more responsive, we can look at the Motion Picture Response Time (MPRT). Samsung’s Super AMOLED’s MPRT is 13.5ms whereas LCD 120Hz’s MPRT is 14.1ms.

The overall design of the screen has a pleasant rounded feel with minimal bezels on the sides. With the variety of fun colours available, Black, Mint, and Violet, the phone gives off a friendly and tasteful vibe and doesn’t compromise on being sleek and modern.

The Galaxy A22 has 8.4mm of depth and weighs 186g, making it even quite fashionable and comfortable to put in your pocket.

Reliable components powered by a huge battery

When talking about performance, this phone is more than capable of your everyday tasks. With its 6GB of RAM, 2GHz Octa core processor, and Arm Mali-G52 GPU, the Galaxy A22 can run apps and games and even give you multi-tasking capabilities.

There is only one 128GB storage option, but if you ever decide to add on more, you can insert a Micro SD card and expand your phone storage up to 1TB.

The Galaxy A22 is equipped with the same 5,000mAh battery as the A22 5G, giving you decent battery life especially for a phone in this price range. You can use USB-C to charge and it even supports 15W fast charging.

The Samsung Galaxy A22 is currently priced at RM899.00.

Until 31 August 2021, when you purchase a Galaxy A22 you will receive a free Soft Clear Cover worth RM39. You can learn more about the phone or purchase it here
