Twitter has consistantly been giving their Spaces users more and more new features. This time, developer and Twitter user Nima Owji pointed out that the company is working on some more features for their Clubhouse-esque platform—including “rules” and a “replay” option for users who might have missed a Spaces conversation.
Owji found that there are four new features that Twitter is working on. Users will be able to “set some rules” for their Spaces session and “lock” those rules, users can listen to “replays” if they missed out a live conversation, and users will also be able to see the duration of the talk as well as the people in it.
However, since these new findings are still in development, there’s not much to look into for further information about each one. For now, the “rules” that you can enlist are unclear, but this will probably mean that hosts can add a section to define what can and cannot be said during that Spaces session.
But the more exciting finding is the potential ability for Twitter users to “replay” the Spaces conversation. Currently, the only way to listen to a Spaces session is when the conversation is live—similar to how it works with Clubhouse. With a ‘replay’ option, users won’t only be able to listen to a conversation they missed, but they will be able to see the duration and which people participated in them.
‘Replay’ would be something a lot of live audio platform users would be into, especially if that specific conversation is something “unmissable”—so to speak. It could also mean more exposure for hosts as people would be able to listen to a Spaces session any time they wanted.
In early August, Twitter Spaces added a feature that lets up to three users co-host a Spaces conversation. A Spaces session will also be able to feature up to 13 people, including 1 host, 2 co-hosts, and 10 participants.
