CES 2022 is happening next year in physical form, which marks a return to normalcy after the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. To ensure a safe environment, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) has revealed that only fully vaccinated individuals are allowed to enter.

As part of its latest health protocols for CES 2022, all attendees and exhibitors will need to show proof of vaccination in order to attend CES. It added that CTA will continue to monitor health safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as Nevada and Clark County. For those who can’t travel to Las Vegas, CTA will continue to create a digital event that will run in parallel with the in-person program.

CTA President and CEO Gary Shapiro said “Based on today’s science, we understand vaccines offer us the best hope for stopping the spread of COVID-19”. He added “We all play a part in ending the pandemic through encouraging vaccinations and implementing the right safety protocols. We are taking on our responsibility by requiring proof of vaccination to attend CES 2022 in Las Vegas.”

The CTA also said that they are assessing the acceptance of proof of a positive antibody test as an alternative requirement and they will share more details at a later time.

CES 2022 in Las Vegas is scheduled to take place from 5th to 8th January 2022 with Media Days to start from 3rd January 2022. CTA is expecting participation from 2,000 companies and the upcoming event will showcase the evolution of the industry including space tech, food tech and NFTs.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s CES was an online only affair. GSMA had proceeded with Mobile World Congress 2021 in Barcelona this year which took place during the summer. As an added safety precaution, all participants at MWC 21 are required to have a negative COVID-19 test result every 72 hours.
