Malaysia has recorded 21,468 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 1,363,683. There are 277 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 11,968. In August so far, there are 2,944 deaths recorded which is an average of 226.5 deaths per day.
Out of 277 deaths recorded today, 96 were brought-in-dead. Sarawak and Labuan which have one of the highest fully vaccinated rates in the country have recorded zero deaths today.
The Ministry of Health has reported 17,025 new recoveries and a total of 1,110,528 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 81.44% while the mortality rate is now 0.88%. There are currently 241,187 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 1,075 are in ICU while 537 require respiratory support.
Out of the 21,468 new cases today, 25 are imported while 21,443 are transmitted locally. Selangor continues to top the list with 7,449 new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,183 cases, Kedah with 1,807 cases, Sabah with 1,654 cases and Johor with 1,485 cases.
The Ministry of Health has identified 41 new clusters today and 22 of them are workplace-related clusters. Below is the breakdown of the number of new clusters by states:
The Ministry of Health has updated its breakdown of new cases based on vaccinated rates. The upgraded graph now indicates the number of cases involving individuals that are fully vaccinated who have passed two weeks after receiving their second dose. 2,703 out of 21,468 cases (12.60%) reported today are fully vaccinated while the remaining 87.40% are from people who have not been vaccinated or have yet to complete their vaccination.
