The Oppo Watch 2 is finally revealed and this is Oppo’s second-generation smartwatch that’s still based on Android. As the successor of their previous Oppo Watch, its internals rock a Snapdragon Wear 4100, Qualcomm’s latest wearable chipset that’s designed to deliver 85% better performance than the Wear 3100.

The Oppo Watch 2 comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes, and features a curved AMOLED display similar to its predecessor. The smaller watch has a 1.75″ 372×430 pixels display, while the 46mm model gets a 1.91″ screen with 402×430 pixels resolution. The screen has a 60Hz refresh rate and boasts a pixel density of 326ppi, which is similar to the Apple Watch.

It’s hard to deny that the new Oppo smartwatch looks similar to the Apple Watch. Instead of a digital crown, the Oppo Watch 2 features two physical buttons on the right side. Oppo is offering eSIM connectivity for both 42mm and 46mm options, and there’s also a Bluetooth-only 42mm model.

The larger 46mm Oppo Watch 2 supposedly can last up to 4 days on a single charge. However, if you enable Power Saver mode, you can stretch it further for up to 16 days. To give it a quick charge, it supports VOOC charging that can push a day’s worth of battery life in just 10 minutes.

For the China market, the Oppo Watch 2 runs on ColorOS Watch 2.0 based on Android. We reckon the same smartwatch would be running on Google’s WearOS when it’s released outside of China

As you would expect from a smartwatch, it offers 24-hour heart rate tracking, SpO2 (blood oxygen) monitoring, sleep analysis, and stress monitoring. The watch is also rated for 5ATM water resistance, which means it can be submerged in water up to 50-metres deep.

The Oppo Watch 2 is already available for pre-order in China and it will start shipping on August 6. Below is the official pricing:

  • 42mm Bluetooth – CNY 1,299 (about RM849)
  • 42mm eSIM – CNY 1,499 (about RM980)
  • 46mm eSIM – CNY 1,999 (about RM1,307)

So far there’s still no word on its international pricing and availability. As a comparison, the current Bluetooth-only Oppo Watch series was released locally at RM899 for the 41mm version and RM1,299 for the 46mm model.
