Galaxy A22 5G: A full-featured 5G phone that won’t break the bank

This post is brought to you by Samsung

With the most popular 5G phones costing well over RM4000, the need for a cheaper alternative is here. Many phones try to cut the price down by cutting corners, resulting in a cheap phone that isn’t enjoyable to use. The Galaxy A22 5G hits the right balance of price and functionality.

Samsung Malaysia just launched the Galaxy A22 5G, an affordable 5G-enabled smartphone with a rear triple camera system, priced at RM999. At this price point, it’s a great entry level 5G phone that does not skimp out on any key features.

In Malaysia, you can get the device in three colours: Gray, Mint and Violet. It weighs 203 grams and is 9mm thin, which is pretty standard when it comes to phones with a similar battery size.

Design & Display

The Galaxy A22 5G comes with a fast refresh rate 90Hz LCD display, which gives you a smoother and more fluid visual. Its 6.6” Infinity-V Display delivers a full screen viewing experience.

The screen has a 1080×2400 FHD+ resolution, which is decent compared to other phones in the same price range.

Storage

Productivity often comes with a lot of data and files. Galaxy A22 5G has got you covered with an internal 128GB of storage and a Micro SD card slot that allows for up to 1TB of storage space.

This is no longer the norm, as more companies are removing the ability to use external storage. It’s nice to see Samsung still offering this, as it makes storage upgrades easier and cheaper and you can do it yourself!

Battery

When you go about your day, charging your phone is the last thing you want to think about. Galaxy A22 5G is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, so you can worry less about charging, and more about what you need to do. Many phones in this price range only have a 4,000mAh battery, so this provides great value.

The Galaxy A22 also comes with fast charging via USB-C to quickly get your phone to full power so you can continue with your necessary tasks for the day.

Additionally, it still has a 3.5mm headphone jack (unlike a lot of phones nowadays), so you can fast charge and listen to tunes at the same time.

Camera

Galaxy A22 5G comes with four cameras in total: a 48MP Main, a 5MP Ultra Wide, a 2MP Depth, and an 8MP Front Camera.

The depth camera is special as other phones with a similar price often don’t have it. It can help provide a better bokeh effect and more accurate AR renderings.

Samsung’s camera and image software really shines through in this phone. Galaxy A22 5G’s portrait mode lets you adjust the blur effect to focus on what you want.

The phone also automatically recognises scenes and lets you know when to use the Ultra Wide mode. This allows you to capture immersive ultra wide panorama shots of that perfect scene.

Galaxy A22 5G also comes with Tetra Binning technology, meaning it can combine pixels into larger pixels making the sensor perform better in low-light, producing brighter images at night.

Security

Security should always be a priority, especially if you keep important files on your devices. With Galaxy A22 5G, the budget doesn’t compromise security, as it allows you to create a private, fully encrypted space that only you can access with just a fingerprint or password.

The Galaxy A22 5G runs on the Android 11 OS with Samsung’s OneUI skin on it. This operating system has neat little features like Share sheet, where you can remove location data from images before sharing them. This is normally very difficult to do without a separate computer.

OneUI also has Private share which allows you to share a file that expires, so the receiver can’t view the file after the expiration date.

With the Galaxy A22 5G, productivity is easy and 5G connectivity is in your hands. What are you waiting for? Purchase a Galaxy A22 5G now from 2 July until 31 August 2021 and receive a free Soft Clear Cover worth RM39!
