COVID-19: 11,985 new cases and record-high 199 deaths today

Malaysia has recorded 11,985 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 951,884. There are 199 new deaths reported which is the highest recorded in a day since the start of the pandemic.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 33 Brought-in-Dead today. 173 deaths are citizens and 26 are non-citizens. There are 2,270 deaths recorded in July so far and the total death toll is now 7,440.

The Ministry of Health has reported 7,902 new recoveries and a total of 806,857 patients have recovered and been discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 84.77% while the mortality rate is now 0.78%.

There are currently 137,587 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 927 are in ICU while 459 require respiratory support.

Out of the 11,985 new cases today, 7 are imported while 11,978 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 5,550 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,174 cases, Kedah with 800 cases and Negeri Sembilan with 745 cases.

There are 30 new clusters today and 17 are workplace-related. Below is the breakdown by states:
