COVID-19: New deaths jump to 83 while new cases rise to 5,244 today

Malaysia has recorded 5,244 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 711,006. There are 83 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 4,637.

The Ministry of Health has reported 6,372 new recoveries and a total of 645,553 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 90.80% while the mortality rate is at 0.65%.

There are currently 60,816 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 879 are in ICU while 433 require respiratory support.

Out of the 5,244 new cases today, 7 are imported while 5,237 are transmitted locally. Selangor records the most with 2,001 new cases, followed by Negeri Sembilan with 677 cases, Sarawak with 577 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 531 cases.
