COVID-19: 5,150 new cases and 73 deaths today while ICU cases continue to rise

Malaysia has recorded 5,150 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 673,026. There are 73 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 4,142.

The Ministry of Health has reported 7,240 new recoveries and a total of 600,935 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 89.29% while the mortality rate is at 0.61%.

There are currently 67,949 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 924 are in ICU while 453 require respiratory support.

Out of the 5,150 new cases today, 3 are imported while 5,147 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,914 cases, followed by Negeri Sembilan with 607 cases, Sarawak with 570 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 480 cases.
