Malaysia has recorded 6,976 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 512,091. This is the 5th consecutive day the country records over 6,000 cases daily.
There are 49 new deaths and the death toll is now at 2,248. A total of 3,587 cases have recovered and a total of 452,821 individuals have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 88.43% while the mortality rate is at 0.44%.
There are now 57,022 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 681 are in ICU while 361 require ventilator.
Out of the 6,976 cases reported today, 5 are imported while 6,971 are transmitted locally. According to the breakdown, Selangor recorded the most today with 2,235 cases, followed by Sarawak with 663 cases, Kelantan with 626 cases and Johor with 549 cases.
