The Nasional Security Council (NSC) has added Singapore into the list of countries that have reported infections of SARS-CoV-2 variant of concern (VOC) within the community. This is based on reports issued by Singapore’s Ministry of Health where cases have involved South African B.1.351, United Kingdom B.1.1.7, Brazil B1.1.28 (P1) including the Variant of Interest (VOI) from India which is also identified as B.1.617.1.

As a result, the NSC has agreed to suspend the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) scheme between Malaysia and Singapore from 13th May 2021. Visitors entering Malaysia from Singapore must undergo mandatory quarantine for 14 days.
