Realme 8 Pro Malaysia: Everything you need to know

The Realme 8 Pro has finally arrived in Malaysia and this is the successor to the Realme 7 Pro that was announced 7 months ago. This time, the mid-range Realme device now comes with a high-resolution 108MP main camera and it is priced RM200 lower than its predecessor.

Pricing and availability

The Realme 8 Pro is officially priced at RM1,299 and it will go on sale on the 1st of May 2021 at all authorised outlets. It comes in Infinite Blue and Infinite Black, and both feature a large “DARE TO LEAP” label on the back. Pre-orders are now available at all Realme Brand Stores and authorised dealers until the 30th April 2021.

All pre-order customers will get a gift box and 1-year extra warranty. As part of its Raya Syokmo promo, they are giving away gifts worth up to RM195,000 which include a Realme Smart TV 43″, Realme Buds Air Pro, Realme M1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush and Realme Smart Scale.

Hardware Specs

The Realme 8 Pro appears to be a refresh of last year’s Realme 7 Pro as it retains almost similar hardware under the hood. Upfront, it gets a 6.4″ Full HD+ Super AMOLED display that comes with a punch-hole on the top left corner. It also runs on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which is expandable.

In terms of rear cameras, it gets a quad-camera setup that’s arranged in a 2×2 cube on the top left corner. This include a 108MP main camera with Samsung HM2 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP B&W sensor. For selfies, the front camera is a 16MP shooter which looks like a downgrade from 32MP on the Realme 7 Pro.

Powering the device is a 4,500mAh battery which supports 50W fast charging via USB-C. According to Realme, you can get a full charge in just 47 minutes or 50% charge in 17 minutes. Interestingly, Realme is bundling a higher rated 65W power adapter in the box. It is worth pointing out that the Realme 7 Pro supports 65W fast charging.

In case you’re wondering, it still comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and the device uses a triple-card slot which allows you to use two SIMs and 1 microSD card at the same time. This is a 4G LTE phone and it supports 5GHz 802.11ac WiFi as well as Bluetooth 5.0.
