Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 gets a RM1,000 price cut in Malaysia

Bored with the standard candy-bar design smartphones? Samsung Malaysia has just announced a price reduction for the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The device is now going for RM6,999 which is a significant RM1,000 price cut from its initial launch price.

If you’re looking for a clamshell device, the Galaxy Z Flip (LTE) is currently going for RM3,999. Both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Z Flip come with 256GB of internal storage in Malaysia.

To recap, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 features a 6.2″ HD+ (2260×816 pixels) Super AMOLED display on the cover and there’s also a flexible 7.6″ (2208×1768 pixels) AMOLED display on the inside that pushes a high 120Hz refresh rate. A huge improvement over the previous generation Fold is its improved hinge which now can stay open at various angles.

Under the hood, it runs on a Snapdragon 865+ processor with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This is a 5G ready device that supports both SA and NSA networks.

The device also gets a triple-camera setup featuring a 12MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. It also comes with 10MP selfie cameras for both the cover and on the internal display.

Powering the Z Fold 2 is a large 4,500mAh battery. It supports 25W fast wired charging via USB-C as well as wireless charging. After the release of the Fold 2, both Huawei and Xiaomi have also released a similar looking foldable smartphone that features an inward-folding mechanism.
