Huawei FreeBuds 4i with ANC offers up to 10 hours of music playback, available for RM319 on 27 March

Huawei Malaysia has introduced the FreeBuds 4i, its new affordable wireless earphones that come with active noise cancellation (ANC). This is the successor to the previous FreeBuds 3i (similar as Honor Magic Earbuds) and the new earbuds offer longer battery life and a smooth pebble looking case.

Pricing and availability

The Huawei FreeBuds 4i is officially priced at RM379 and it will be available for purchase from 27th March 2021 in Malaysia. At the moment, only the Ceramic White option is available and it comes with a free cover (worth RM29) which provides protection for the charging case. The free cover is limited to the first 3,000 redemptions.

As an introductory offer, you can get the new FreeBuds for only RM319 by redeeming the RM60 off voucher which is valid from 27th to 31st March 2021. The RM60 voucher can be redeemed for Huawei Experience Stores, Huawei Online Store or on Lazada Malaysia.

Hardware Specs

The FreeBuds 4i uses an in-ear design which looks somewhat similar to the AirPods Pro but with longer stems. It features 10mm diameter dynamic drivers and a dual-mic system which is used for its AI noise reduction technology. The earbuds also come with Awareness Mode which can be enabled by pressing and holding the earbud to listen to ambient sound.

According to Huawei, the FreeBuds 4i with its 55mAh battery per earbud offer up to 10 hours of continuous music playback on a single charge without ANC. With ANC turned on, it is rated to push 7.5 hours of music playback.

If the earbuds are low on battery, a quick 10-minute charge is rated to provide 4 hours of audio playback. Combined with the charging case, you’ll get a total of up to 22 hours of music playback. The case itself has a 215mAh Lithium-ion polymer battery battery and it charges via USB-C.

As a comparison, the previous FreeBuds 3i is rated to provide up to 3.5 hours of music playback on a single charge or up to a total of 14.5 hours with the charging case included.

The FreeBuds 4i supports Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and there are also touch controls which allows you to tap to control your music playback and voice calls. You can also toggle ANC on or off and Awareness mode by long pressing the earbud. It also features a low latency mode which is great for gaming, however, it requires a device that runs on Huawei’s EMUI 11.
