Amazfit T-Rex Pro: Rugged smartwatch with 100m water resistance and 18 days of battery life

Amazfit Malaysia has officially unveiled the T-Rex Pro which is a new rugged smartwatch that can withstand most extreme conditions. Like the name suggests, this is essentially the upgraded version of the Amazfit T-Rex that was announced last year.

Pricing and availability

The Amazfit T-Rex Pro is officially priced at RM659 in Malaysia and it goes on sale on 4th April 2021. To secure your unit, you can pre-order from 24th to 31st March 2021 on the official Amazfit store on Shopee.

The smartwatch is available in 3 colours – Meteorite Black, Desert Grey, Steel Blue. As a comparison, the standard T-Rex is currently going for RM499.

Hardware specs

The Amazfit T-Rex Pro features a 1.3″ colour touch-screen AMOLED display that pushes a 360×360 pixels resolution. Designed for extreme outdoor activities, the Pro model has passed 15 military-grade tests which is 3 more endurance tests compared to the standard T-Rex version.

The body is made out of polycarbonate and it comes with a 22mm silicone rubber strap. The chunky looking watch also gets 4 physical buttons for select, back, up and down navigation.

The new model also boasts 10 ATM-rated water resistance which allows it to be submerged up to 100 metres deep. According to Amazfit, this means you can take it for swimming, snorkeling or for non-high-speed watersports. It also gets a blood-oxygen saturation (SpO2) measurement system, four global navigation satellite systems (GPS+GLONASS/ GPS + BeiDou / GPS + Galileo) and over 100 sports mode.

The watch also comes pack with a host of sensors including a BioTracker 2 PPG optical sensor for 24-hour heart rate monitoring, 3-axis acceleration, 3-axis gyroscope, geomagnetic, ambient light and barometric altimeter sensors.

On a full charge, the 390mAh battery can last up to 18 days with typical usage or up to 9 days with heavy use. With GPS continuously running, it can last up to 40 hours. A full charge with the magnetic charging case takes up to 1.5 hours.

Apart from tracking your fitness activities, the watch can also monitor your rest and sleep quality with the Amazfit SomnusCare feature. On top of that, the watch can also display your notifications, incoming call alerts, event reminders and music control.

The T-Rex Pro connects via Bluetooth 5.0 BLE and it supports both Android and iOS devices with the Zepp App installed. To learn more, you can check out the official Amazfit product page.
