Huawei P50 series appears to come with the biggest dual-camera bump ever

Despite facing restrictions from the US government, it seems that Huawei is still going ahead to launch its new P50 series. Reliable serial leakster @onleaks has dropped a couple of high-resolution renders which provide a clear look of what to expect from Huawei’s new flagship for 2021.

Huawei P50

The P-series is all about photography and it appears that Huawei is going bonkers with its new camera system. Unlike the Huawei Mate 40 series which features an iconic circular camera bump, the P50 appears to come with just two cameras that are housed in a ridiculously huge camera bump. It’s as if Huawei had taken the dual-camera bump from the P20 and made it 10x larger.

Over at the front, the P50 is said to feature a flat 6.3″ display that has a single punch-hole selfie camera in the middle. Like any premium Huawei flagship, it uses a rear glass panel along with a metal frame.

Just like the Huawei Mate 40, the P50 will feature stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint sensor. Apparently, Huawei is speculated to use a 1″ sensor which is likely to be the Sony IMX800. Since there are only two cameras, it isn’t clear if Huawei will use a telephoto or ultra-wide-angle for its secondary shooter.

Huawei P50 Pro

For the Huawei P50 Pro, the device is said to feature a larger 6.6″ display which has curved edges. Like the P50, it also gets a single punch-hole selfie camera and the rear camera setup also looks similar with two gigantic camera lenses.

So far there are no details yet on the specs but it is very likely that Huawei will continue to use its 5nm Kirin 9000 processor, which is the same unit that’s powering the current Mate 40 series. Due to the scarcity of the processor, we expect limited release for markets outside of China. You can also expect the devices to ship without Google mobile apps and services.

In case you missed it, Huawei had recently introduced its Mate X2 foldable smartphone. It looks like the Galaxy Z Fold 2 but it offers several design improvements including the lack of a “thigh gap” when the device is folded.
