COVID-19: 1,647 new cases today, total recoveries in Malaysia exceed 300,000

Malaysia has recorded 1,647 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 319,364. Despite the slight increase in new cases, Malaysia continues to record more recoveries. There are 9 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,200.

The Ministry of Health has reported 2,104 new recoveries and a total of 300,620 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 94.13% while the mortality rate is at 0.38%.

There are currently 17,544 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 147 are in ICU while 61 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,647 new cases today, 5 are imported while 1,642 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 712 cases, followed by Pulau Pinang with 169 cases, Johor with 170 cases and Sarawak with 168 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 5 new clusters today. This include Teknologi Tenggara and Jalan Masyhur Enam clusters in Johor, Jalan Kenangan construction site cluster in Selangor, DTI Machap Umboo cluster in Melaka and Jambatan Satu Bombalai cluster in Sabah.

A total of 65 clusters have recorded new cases today. The Queens Waterfront construction site cluster recorded the most with 70 cases, followed by Industri Sungai Gadut cluster with 68 cases and DTI Machap Umboo cluster with 67 cases.
