COVID-19: Less than 1,700 new cases recorded for 5 straight days

Malaysia has recorded 1,448 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 317,717. There are 5 new deaths reported and the death toll is now at 1,191.

The Ministry of Health has reported 2,137 new recoveries and a total of 298,516 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 93.96% while the mortality rate is at 0.37%.

There are currently 18,010 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 151 are in ICU while 72 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,448 new cases today, 10 are imported while 1,438 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 561 cases, followed by Johor with 273 cases, Sarawak with 199 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 103 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 5 new clusters today. This include Dagang Permai and Sungai Puteh clusters in Selangor, Parit Penyengat Darat cluster in Johor, Melor cluster in Sarawak and Pona cluster in Johor.

A total of 59 clusters have recorded new cases. The Jalan Zamrud construction site cluster recorded the most with 151 cases, followed by Parit Penyengat Darat cluster with 123 cases and Changkat Jong cluster with 49 cases.
