COVID-19: New cases drop to 1,555 today, lowest recorded in 2021

Malaysia has recorded 1,555 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 304,135. This is the lowest recorded in a day since 28th December 2020. There are 6 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,141.

The Ministry of Health has reported 2,528 new recoveries and a total of 278,431 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 91.54% while the mortality rate is 0.38%.

There are currently 24,563 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 204 are in ICU while 96 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,555 new cases today, 3 are imported while 1,552 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 672 cases, followed by Johor with 163 cases, Sarawak with 159 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 145 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 7 new clusters and 6 are workplace related. Below is the list of new clusters:

A total of 75 clusters have recorded new cases today. The Industri Sungai Gadut cluster recorded the most with 56 cases, followed by Jalan Muhibbah cluster with 49 cases and Jalan DPB Enam with 36 cases.
