[UPDATE] The Oppo Find X3 series is launching on the 11th of March 2021

[ UPDATE 01/03/2021 16:34 ]: Oppo has confirmed that the Find X3 series will be launched for the global market on the 11th of March 2021, 7:30pm (MYT). More details here.

===

Finally. The leaks are set to culminate in an actual, tangible launch, with the Oppo Find X3 series set to launch on the 11th of March 2021—although this information is also based on a leak. According to a purportedly leaked promo image shared on Chinese social media platform Weibo, Oppo’s next flagship series is set to arrive this month—along with a 25x telephoto macro lens and Oppo’s Full-Path Color Management System.

The latter is supposedly the first colour management system on an Android phone that can support the full DCI-P3 wide gamut and 10-bit colour depth. It’s supposed to offer an “outstanding viewing experience”, promising more accurate colour reproduction. When first announced, Oppo promised to introduce the technology on their smartphones for 2021—which explains the Oppo Find X3 series.

In any case, the leaked promo image looks pretty legit, and it looks similar to Oppo’s usual announcement graphics. Have a look:

Based on the image, the launch is scheduled for the 11th of March at 19:30 local time. Given the language used (and the fact that it was shared on Weibo), it’s probable that we’re talking about a launch for the Chinese market. This makes sense, as Chinese manufacturers usually launch some of their devices in their home country initially—before a wider, global release is announced.

Taking into account the fact that this would be the flagship series in Oppo’s lineup of mobile devices, it also seems likely that the global launch will happen sooner rather than later. However, Oppo has yet to officially announce the series or the launch event, so keep that in mind.

In any case, what’s in store for us? Based on the (unofficial) information we have so far, it looks like there will be three or four models within the series: the Oppo Find X3 Lite, X3 Neo, X3, and the range-topping Oppo Find X3 Pro. The Pro model has already been leaked with plenty of details from reliable source, Evan Blass, and it has a look that has been “inspired” by the iPhone 12 Pro series—or maybe that’s just us.

Other expected specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 under the hood, while cameras could include a pair of 50MP Sony IMX766 sensors and a 3MP macro lens with 25X zoom. The fourth camera will purportedly be a 13MP telephoto lens, which will be brought over from the 2020 Oppo Find X2. Meanwhile, the Oppo Find X3 Lite looks to be a rebadged Oppo Reno 5, and there will be a couple of aesthetic changes to set the two apart in different markets (depending on region, probably).

Blass previously shared a couple of “official” images of the Find X3 Pro, and the Find X3 Lite:

So, what do you guys think? I think it’s safe to say that the Oppo Find X3 series will be available in Malaysia at some point, so let us know what you think in the comments section below.
