Former Axiata Group CEO Jamaludin Ibrahim appointed as QSR Brands chairman

Telco veteran Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim has been appointed the Chairman at QSR Brands (M) Holdings Berhad effective from tomorrow, 1st March 2021. QSR Brands is the franchise owner of KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in Malaysia.

As reported by The Edge, Jamaludin said it is a great responsibility to be appointed as chairman of QSR Brands which is also the franchise holder for KFC in Singapore, Brunei and Cambodia as well as Pizza Hut in Singapore.

He also added that he is looking forward to partnering with Managing Director Nehchal Khanna, the board and the team at QSR Brands to further transform and solidify its position as the leading food chain brand that’s entrusted to feed the hearts and minds of Malaysians and customers in the region. QSR manages over 830 KFC restaurants and over 475 Pizza Hut restaurants in four countries.

According to Bursa Malaysia, Jamaludin retired from Axiata Group on 31st December 2020 and was succeeded by Dato Izzaddin Idris. Jamaludin had served the group for over 12 years since the company (formerly known as TM International Berhad) was demerged from Telekom Malaysia. Jamaludin was also the CEO at Maxis for over 10 years between 1997 to 2007.

Jamaludin was also the Managing Director at Digital Equipment Malaysia between 1993 to 1997 and has also spent 12 years at IBM from 1981 to 1993. He was also a board member of GSMA between 2003 to 2020 and appointed as Deputy chairman from 2014 to 2015.
