COVID-19: 2,461 new cases and 8 deaths today, total active cases dip below 35,000

Malaysia has recorded 2,461 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 280,272. There are 8 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,051.

The Ministry of Health has reported 4,782 new recoveries and a total of 244,753 patients have recovered and discharged so far. Malaysia has been recording more recoveries than new cases for 10 consecutive days. The recovery rate is now 87.33% while the mortality rate is at 0.37%.

There are currently 34,468 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 207 are in ICU while 91 require respiratory support.

All 2,461 new cases reported today are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,001 cases, followed by Kelantan with 257 cases, Johor with 233 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 230 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 10 new clusters today and all of them are workplace related. Below is the full list of new COVID-19 clusters:

A total of 91 active clusters have recorded new cases. The Tembok Bukit Besi cluster reported the most with 146 new cases, followed by Sungai Putus cluster with 128 new cases and Tanjung Suria cluster with 64 new cases.
