COVID-19: 2,936 new cases and 4,889 recoveries today, active cases drop to 36,797

Malaysia has recorded 2,936 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 277,811. There are 13 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,043.

The Ministry of Health has reported 4,889 new recoveries and a total of 239,971 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 86.38% while the mortality rate is now 0.38%.

There are currently 36,797 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 220 are in ICU while 104 require respiratory support.

Out of the 2,936 new cases today, 17 are imported while 2,919 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 978 cases, followed by Johor with 730 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 227 cases and Sarawak with 199 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 13 new clusters and 10 are workplace related. Here’s the full list of newly identified clusters:

A total of 109 active clusters have reported new COVID-19 cases. The newly identified Jalan Murni 12 reported the most with 339 cases, followed by Jalan Perindustrian Pelepas cluster with 179 cases and Industri Tekstil Nilai cluster with 113 cases.
