COVID-19: New cases drop to 2,176 today, active cases remaining fall below 48,000

Malaysia has recorded 2,176 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 266,445. This is the lowest recorded daily number of cases since 6 January 2021. There are 10 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 975.

The Ministry of Health has reported 4,521 new recoveries and a total of 218,335 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 81.9% while the mortality rate is at 0.4%.

There are currently 47,135 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 260 are in ICU while 112 require respiratory support.

Out of the 2,176 new cases today, 1 is imported while 2,175 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 910 cases, followed by Johor with 269 cases, Sarawak with 246 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 182 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 13 new clusters today and 10 are workplace related. Below is the list of new clusters in Malaysia:

A total of 68 active clusters have recorded new COVID-19 cases today. The Jalan Senai Utama cluster recorded the most with 131 cases, followed by Tanjung Suria cluster with 68 cases and Tembok Bendera cluster with 40 new cases.
