COVID-19: Record high 5,725 new cases today, total cases now over 200,000

Malaysia has recorded 5,725 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 203,933. This is a new record high in new daily cases since the start of the pandemic in Malaysia. There are 16 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 733.

The Ministry of Health has reported 3,423 new recoveries and a total of 157,722 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 77.34% while the mortality rate is 0.36%.

There are currently 45,478 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 301 are in ICU while 115 require respiratory support.

Out of the 5,725 new cases today, 7 are imported while 5,268 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 3,126 new cases today, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 687 cases, Johor with 684 cases and Sabah with 288 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 12 new clusters and 10 are workplace related. Below is the full list of new clusters reported today:

A total of 89 active clusters have reported new cases today. The Tanjung Suria cluster reported the most with 385 cases, followed by Jalan Harapan prison cluster with 224 cases and Jalan Sungai Jelok prison cluster with 116 cases.
