After calls were made to extend operating hours during the movement control order (MCO), the National Security Council has agreed to allow restaurants and eateries to open until 10pm. This new ruling will be enforced from tomorrow, 22nd January 2021.
At the moment, all restaurants and eateries are only allowed to operate from 6am to 8pm daily. With the extension, this will ease congestion during peak dinner hour times as some restaurants have struggled to fulfil last call orders.
However, do note that dine-in is strictly not allowed. Restaurants and eateries are only allowed to operate for takeaway, drive-thru and delivery only.
At the moment, the entire Malaysia is placed under MCO except for the state of Sarawak. Although Sarawak is currently under CMCO statewide, the districts of Sibu, Selangau and Kanowit are under MCO due to the recent surge of new cases. Interstate travel is currently not allowed throughout Malaysia.
