COVID-19: 3,211 new cases and 8 deaths today, active cases now over 35,000

Malaysia has recorded 3,211 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 151,066. There are 8 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 586.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,939 new recoveries and a total of 115,227 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 76.3% while the mortality rate is now 0.4%.

There are currently 35,253 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 204 are in ICU while 87 require respiratory support.

Out of the 3,211 new cases today, 5 are imported while 3,206 are transmitted locally. Selangor records the most with 889 new cases, followed by Johor with 535 cases, Sabah with 514 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 401 cases.

The Ministry has identified 12 new clusters today. This include Jalan Telok Gong cluster in Selangor, Lingkaran Lintang cluster in Selangor, Persiaran Selatan cluster in Johor, Jalan Kluang cluster in Johor, Kampung Perani cluster in Johor, Ladang Baturong cluster in Sabah, Ladang Matamba cluster in Sabah, Damai construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur, Pondok Hidayah cluster in Kelantan, Kota Road cluster in Perak, Tembok Kemus cluster in Melaka and Restoran Putra in Putrajaya.

A total of 85 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Bukit Pasir cluster reported the most with 171 new cases, followed by the newly identified Damai construction site cluster with 130 cases and Beringin cluster with 112 cases.
