COVID-19: 2,643 new cases and 16 deaths reported today

Malaysia has recorded 2,643 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 131,108. There are 16 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 537. According to the Ministry of Health, the reported number of deaths include cases that require more time to determine if the deaths are COVID-19 related.

The Ministry of Health has reported 2,708 new recoveries and a total of 105,431 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 80.4% while the mortality rate is now 0.4%.

There are currently 25,140 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 170 are in ICU while 82 require respiratory support.

Out of the 2,643 new cases today, 2 are imported while 2,641 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,086 new cases, followed by Sabah with 401 cases, Johor with 298 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 282 cases.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 6 new clusters identified today. This include Jalan Klinik cluster in Selangor, Hevea construction site cluster in Selangor, Bukit Belimbing cluster in Selangor, Kauran cluster in Sabah, Kapital cluster in Kuala Lumpur and Setapak Indah cluster in Kuala Lumpur.

A total of 57 active clusters have reported new COVID-19 cases today. The Sungai Putus cluster reported the most with 374 cases, followed by the newly identified Jalan Klinik cluster with 132 cases and Jalan Harapan prison cluster with 73 new cases.
