Xiaomi Malaysia has confirmed that its upcoming phone is the Redmi 9T. This is their new budget device which is expected to be very similar to the Poco M3 with some minor differences.

Redmi 9T Launch Malaysia

The Redmi 9T event will be streamed live on Friday, 8th January at 8pm. You can watch it live on Xiaomi Malaysia’s Facebook page. From the looks of it, we expect pre-orders to start very soon and Xiaomi might offer a special pre-order price for early bird customers.

Redmi 9T Unboxing

Ahead of the launch, the Redmi 9T has leaked online through an early unboxing video. The new budget device appears to come with a quad-camera setup and it has a large “Redmi” recessed at the back. The 9T is seen as a rebadge of the Poco M3 which was launched in November 2020.

Based on the speculated spec-sheet, the device is expected to feature a 6.53″ Full HD+ display, a Snapdragon 662 processor and a large 6,000mAh battery. In terms of camera, it is said to feature a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and two 2MP cameras for macro and depth effects. It is also speculated to come with up to 6GB of RAM, and it’s likely to be priced higher than the Poco M3. All shall be revealed this coming Friday.
