COVID-19: 1,741 new cases today, total cases now exceed 120,000

Malaysia has recorded 1,741 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 120,818. There are 7 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 501.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,010 new recoveries and a total of 98,228 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 81.3% while the mortality rate is now 0.4%.

There are currently 22,089 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 122 are in ICU while 53 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,741 new COVID-19 cases today, 8 are imported while 1,733 are transmitted locally. Selangor continues to record the most with 687 new cases, followed by Sabah with 303 new cases, Johor with 295 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 150 new cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 5 new clusters today. This include Jalan Duyong cluster in Selangor, Jalan Sentosa Market cluster in Selangor, Jalan Nakhoda cluster in Kuala Lumpur, Ehsan Ibol cluster in Selangor and Telok Mas cluster in Melaka.

A total of 50 active clusters have reported new cases today. The newly identified Jalan Duyong cluster has recorded the most with 95 new cases, followed by Jalan Perindustrian cluster with 81 new cases and Hentian cluster with 73 new cases.
