Fuel prices in Malaysia continue to rise for 8 consecutive weeks and both RON97 petrol and diesel are priced above RM2.00/litre for the coming week. Petrol is up by 4 sen per litre while Diesel is up by 3 sen per litre.

Below are the fuel prices for the period between 2nd to 8th January 2021:

RON95 – RM1.84/litre (+4 sen)
RON97 – RM2.14/litre (+4 sen)
Diesel – RM2.01/litre (+3 sen)
Diesel (Euro 5) – RM2.11/litre (+3 sen)

The price of fuel in Malaysia is calculated based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM). According to the Ministry of Finance, the adjustments in fuel prices reflect the changes in the pricing of refined oil products in line with the current global crude oil prices.

The pricing across the board is the highest since the MCO was imposed in mid-March 2020. On the week of 14th of March 2020, RON95 was priced at RM1.82/litre, RON97 at RM2.10/litre and Diesel at RM1.87/litre.
