Xiaomi Malaysia is launching a new Redmi phone very soon. Is this a rebadged Poco M3?

Before the Mi 11 arrives, Xiaomi Malaysia has teased a new Redmi smartphone will be coming to our shores very soon. To get your hands on one for free, Xiaomi Malaysia is giving 10 units away through its Facebook page.

According to the teaser, the new device is called Redmi XX and the image shows a phone with a quad-camera bump. Since the contest ends on 7th of January 2021, the new phone could be revealed as early as next week.

From the looks of it, the new device might be the upcoming Redmi 9T that has recently passed Thailand’s device certification. Based on the speculated spec-sheet, it looks very similar to the current Poco M3 and the Redmi Note 9 4G for the China market.

Redmi Note 9 for China which features a triple-camera setup

The Redmi 9T is expected to come with a 6.53″ Full HD+ IPS display, a Snapdragon 662 processor and a large 6,000mAh battery. It is said to be available with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB of storage which is expandable via microSD card.

Just like the Poco M3, it will feature a 48MP main camera and two 2MP shooters for macro and depth effects. However, the 9T is said to come with an extra 8MP camera for ultra-wide-angle shots.

If this is indeed a rebadged Poco M3 with an extra camera, it would be interesting to see how much would Xiaomi priced this phone considering the budget Poco device carries a competitive RM599 price tag for 64GB storage and RM699 for 128GB.
