COVID-19: 1,594 new cases today, 900 reported in the Klang Valley

Malaysia has recorded 1,594 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 106,690. There are 3 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 455.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,181 new recoveries and a total of 85,592 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 80.2% while the mortality rate is now 0.4%.

There are currently 20,643 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 116 are in ICU while 53 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,594 new cases today, 3 are imported while 1,591 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 697 new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 194 cases, Johor with 191 cases, Negeri Sembilan with 160 cases and Sabah with 157 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 5 new clusters today. This include Jalan Gadang construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur, Menara Sri cluster which covers Kuala Lumpur and Perak, Bukit Pasir cluster in Johor, Pintu Geng cluster in Kelantan and Putra 15 cluster in Putrajaya.

A total of 54 active COVID-19 clusters have recorded new cases today. The Hentian cluster reported the most with 261 cases, followed by Jalan Harapan prison cluster with 42 new cases and Ceram cluster with 40 new cases.
