COVID-19: Total cases in Malaysia exceed 100,000, 1,581 new cases reported today

Malaysia has recorded 1,581 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 100,318. There are 2 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 446.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,085 new recoveries and a total of 81,099 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 80.8% while the mortality rate is currently 0.5%.

There are currently 18,773 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 102 are in ICU while 45 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,581 new cases today, 2 are imported while 1,579 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 491 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 379 cases, Sabah with 249 cases and Negeri Sembilan with 144 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 4 new clusters today and all are from the Klang Valley. This include Kebun Baru and Sungai Burong clusters in Selangor, Jalan Tun construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur and Jalan Pandan cluster which covers both Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

A total of 53 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Jalan Harapan prison cluster recorded the most with 185 new cases, followed by Permai construction site cluster with 138 new cases and Kebun Baru cluster with 95 new cases.
