COVID-19: 1,348 new cases today, more than half reported in the Klang Valley

Malaysia has recorded 1,348 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 98,737. There are 5 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 444.

The Ministry of Health has reported 710 new recoveries and a total of 80,014 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 81.0% while the mortality rate is now 0.5%.

There are currently 18,279 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 102 are in ICU while 44 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,348 new COVID-19 cases reported today, 16 are imported while 1,332 are transmitted locally. Selangor reported the most with 535 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 226 cases, Sabah with 189 cases, Melaka with 124 cases and Johor with 118 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 5 new clusters today. This include Saga Tengah cluster in Sabah, Menara Wang and Jalan Panah construction site clusters in Kuala Lumpur, Hala Mutiara cluster in Perak and Kolam Air cluster in Kedah.

A total of 43 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Bina Muda construction site cluster reported the most with 162 cases, followed by Jalan Harapan prison cluster with 123 cases and Teratai cluster with 79 cases.
