COVID-19: New cases jump to 2,018 today, 1,204 recorded in Selangor

Malaysia has recorded 2,018 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 95,327. There’s one new death reported and the death toll is now 438.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,084 new recoveries and a total of 78,393 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 82.2% while the mortality rate is now 0.5%.

There are currently 16,496 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 109 are in ICU while 55 require respiratory support.

Out of the 2,018 new cases today, 7 are imported while 2,011 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,204 cases, followed by Johor with 278 cases, Sabah with 247 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 127 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 8 new clusters today and 6 are from the Klang Valley. This include Pekapuri cluster in Selangor, Batu Besar cluster in Selangor, Tower cluster which covers Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, Pelangi construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur, Wawasan cluster which coves Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, Delima cluster which also covers both Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, Bandar cluster in Labuan and May Indah cluster in Penang.

A total of 44 active clusters have reported new COVID-19 cases today. The Sungai Putus cluster recorded the most with 507 new cases, followed by Tembok Gajah cluster with 234 cases and Pekapuri cluster with 202 cases.
