As we approach closer to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series, we now get a clear look at two of the flagship models. Serial leakster Roland Quandt has dropped official renders of the Samsung Galaxy S21 and S21+. According to the reliable leakster, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S21 series as early as 14th of January 2021.
The exterior design matches the recent leaks that we’ve seen so far and the new S21 series will feature a distinctive camera bump that joins seamlessly to the side frame. As seen in the earlier leaked teaser videos, it appears that violet or purple is the new hero colour for the 2021 flagship series and it gets contrasting rose gold highlights for its frame and camera bump.
Apart from violet, the S21 series will also be available in pink as well as the usual black and white colourways. For those who don’t fancy curved displays, you’ll be happy to know that both the S21 and S21+ will feature a flat screen which is likely to push a fluid 120Hz refresh rate. The more expensive S21 Ultra would continue to offer a dual-curved screen.
The front screen still comes with a single centre-aligned punch-hole for its selfie camera just like the current Galaxy S20 series. Upon closer inspection, it seems that Samsung has managed to reduce the bezel around the chin for an almost symmetrical appearance.
According to Roland, the S21+ will still retain a glass back just like its more expensive S21 Ultra. However, the cheaper S21 model is expected to come with a plastic back just like the current Galaxy Note 20.
We don’t have the full spec sheet just yet but the S21 is said to come with a 6.3″ display while the S21+ is bigger at 6.7″. Both will use AMOLED panels with Full HD+ resolution. Samsung is said to have improved its ultra-wide-angle shooter by using a 12MP Sony IMX563 sensor with dual PD autofocus and it offers a wider 123-degree field of view.
The S21 series is expected to come with either a Snapdragon 888 processor or an Exynos 2100 unit. Both are to be based on a 5nm process and this time, the Exynos version might offer better if not similar performance as Snapdragon variant. Samsung is stepping things up for its next generation flagship Exynos chip following heavy criticism from fans over its current Exynos 990 SoC.
Since Malaysia is a key market, we reckon that Samsung will offer pre-order almost immediately after the launch with stocks expected to arrive a few weeks later. Apart from the phone, Samsung is also expected to introduce its new Galaxy Buds Pro with active noise cancellation.
