COVID-19: 1,220 new cases today, 667 reported in the Klang Valley

Malaysia has recorded 1,220 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 89,133. There are 3 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 432.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,297 new recoveries and a total of 74,030 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 83.1% while the mortality rate is currently 0.5%.

There are currently 14,671 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 106 are in ICU while 53 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,220 new cases today, 6 are imported while 1,214 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 368 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 297 cases, Sabah with 184 cases, Melaka with 98 cases and Penang with 80 cases. After 4 days of recording zero cases, Sarawak has recorded 9 new cases today.

The Ministry of Health has identified 3 new clusters today. This include Jalan Rusa cluster in Kuala Lumpur, Pasifik construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur and Maringkan cluster in Sabah.

A total of 41 active clusters have recorded new COVID-19 cases today. The Jalan Harapan prison cluster recorded the most with 98 cases, followed by Jalan Rusa cluster with 57 cases and Bintang cluster with 50 cases.
