COVID-19: New cases drop to 959 today, Selangor records the most with 277 cases

Malaysia has recorded 959 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 76,265. There are 5 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 393.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,068 new recoveries and a total of 65,124 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 85.4% while the mortality rate is now 0.5%.

There are currently 10,748 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 127 are in ICU while 61 require respiratory support.

Out of the 959 new COVID-19 cases today, 6 are imported while 953 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 277 new cases, followed by Sabah with 203 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 129 cases, Pahang with 119 cases and Johor with 100 cases. There are no new cases reported in Sarawak, Terengganu, Perlis and Putrajaya today.

The Ministry of Health has identified 4 new clusters today. This include Kupi-kupi cluster in Sabah, Ikon Bintang construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur, Bandar Impian cluster which covers Johor, Kelantan and Perak, and Jalan Kemang cluster in Negeri Sembilan.

A total of 38 active clusters have recorded new COVID-19 cases today. The Jalan Genting cluster records the most with 119 cases, followed by Bintang cluster with 45 cases and Muda construction site cluster with 39 cases.
