COVID-19: 1,096 new cases today, 58% reported in the Klang Valley

Malaysia has recorded 1,096 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 54,775. There are 3 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 335.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,104 new recoveries and a total of 41,597 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 75.9% while the mortality rate is now 0.6%.

There are currently 12,843 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 106 are in ICU while 46 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,096 new COVID-19 cases today, 6 are imported while 1,090 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 603 new cases which is said to be a record high for the state. This is followed by Sabah with 311 cases, Perak with 55 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 30 cases and Negeri Sembilan with 29 cases. There are no new cases reported in Sarawak, Pahang and Terengganu today.

The ministry has identified 3 new clusters today. This includes Pengkalan Barat cluster in Penang, Bakti cluster in Negeri Sembilan and Bayam Indah cluster in Kedah.

A total of 54 active clusters have recorded new COVID-19 cases today. The Teratai cluster recorded the most with 504 new cases, followed by Tembok cluster with 42 cases and Kaya cluster with 20 cases.
