The new Acer Swift 3X and Aspire 5 have arrived in Malaysia less than a month after they were unveiled during the Taiwanese device maker’s next@acer global press conference on 21 October. The two laptops come equipped with the latest 11th Gen Intel Core (Tiger Lake) processors along with the chipmaker’s latest Iris Xe Max graphics.
According to Acer the Swift 3X, which comes in one colour: Steam Blue, has the following official pricing:

Intel Core i5-1135G7, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD – RM3,799
Meanwhile, the Acer Aspire 5 will be available in 14″ and 15.6″ display options. All variants come with 4GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB SSD as standard. Here is the official pricing for each variant:

Both laptops are available now at Acer’s official online store. You can also find them on Lazada and Shopee as well as Acer’s authorised resellers nationwide.
Customers that buy the Swift 3X and Aspire 5 before 31 December are entitled to several free gifts including an Acer Urban Entry backpack (worth RM59), RM100 in Touch ‘n Go eWallet credit as well as a personalised premium laptop sleeve (for purchases of the Swift 3X).
The latest Swift model from Acer is billed as a thin and light laptop for creative users. The laptop features a 14″ FHD IPS display that offers an 84% screen-to-body ratio. It covers 72% NTSC colour gamut that is claimed to provide eye-popping colours.
In addition, Acer has included its ExaColor feature that is said to provide sRGB-like display quality while its Colour Intelligence dynamically adjusts gamma and saturation. When used together, Acer claims both features reduce a user’s eye strain while improving colour recreation.
Encased in a metal chassis, the Swift 3X measures only 17.95mm thin and weighs just 1.37kg. Despite its slim profile, the Swift 3X is equipped with a big fan that Acer claims to provide roughly 60% airflow improvement. To help with cooling the laptop down the Swift 3X comes with multiple cooling modes and dual D6 copper heat pipes.
As for specs, the Swift 3X can be configured with up to the latest 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7 chip, up to 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD storage. Acer claims the new onboard Intel Iris Xe Max discrete graphics offers graphical performance that would make Full HD gaming on a thin-and-light laptop possible.
The new Swift 3X also comes with a full array of ports that include HDMI 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB Type-C that supports also Thunderbolt 4 for fast data transfer and power delivery. Apart from that, you get dual band WiFi 6 (802.11ax) that is claimed to improve average network throughput by up to three times and reduces latency by up to 75% compared to WiFi 5 (802.11ac). In addition, it comes with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.
Acer has claimed that the laptop has a battery life of up to 17.5 hours which should help it last an entire work day. In addition, the Swift 3X can be fast charged to provide 4 hours of video playback with just a 30-minute charge.

The Acer Aspire 5 is a fashionable laptop that comes in two screen sizes: either a 14″ or 15.6″ FHD IPS display with a slim bezel design. Both laptops boast a 17.95mm profile, the 14″ model weighs just 1.45kg while the slightly larger 15.6″ model weighs 1.65kg.
In terms of specs, the Aspire 5 can be configured up to an Intel Core i7-1165G7, it has 4GB of DDR4 RAM (that can be upgraded to 20GB) and 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. For graphics, users have can opt up to an Nvidia MX350 graphics or Intel Iris Xe Max graphics.
The Aspire 5 has full array of ports including an HDMI 2.0 port, two USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one USB Type C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an Ethernet port, and Thunderbolt 4. Apart from that you also get WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.
As for its battery life, Acer claims the 14″ model can last up to 10 hours while the 15.6″ model is said to last up to 8.5 hours. The Aspire 5 14″ variant comes in five colours: Safari Gold, Pure Silver, Charcoal Black, Sakura Pink or Glacier Blue while the 15.6″ only comes in either Charcoal Black or Pure Silver.
Like the Swift 3X, the Aspire 5 comes pre-installed with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019 and it will run on Windows 10 Home.

Though the two laptops may differ in terms of specs, they have a few things in common. One such feature is a new device-lifting hinge design that allows for additional ventilation at certain angles while providing more airflow below the device, leading to better thermal performance.
Users can also access different cooling modes such as silent normal or performance via the “Fn + F” shortcut key combo. For video calls, Acer has included its HD webcam, on both laptops, that captures at a 1280 x 720 resolution.
Acer is offering a 3-year local warranty and one-year international warranty for the Swift 3X and Aspire 5.
