The technology world is moving towards USB-C. Smartphones, tablets, and even laptops now utilise USB-C for charging or data transfers. But what if you still have legacy devices that utilise USB-A—and you also use newer devices with USB-C? To offer that versatility, Kingston has announced the DataTraveler Duo USB flash drive.
The DataTraveler Duo has two USB connectors that work with USB-A and USB-C ports, so that you can use it with your phones, laptops, and tablets. It’s USB 3.2 Gen 1 (originally known as USB 3.0, and previously renamed to USB 3.1 Gen 1), which means that theoretical transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps are supported.
“The addition of the DT Duo adds much needed functionality to the growing number of USB Type-C devices on the market. The dual interface and unique double slider casing make the drive sturdy and stylish, with no cap to lose.”
This isn’t Kingston’s first flash drive to have a dual USB interface. They’ve also announced the DataTraveler microDuo 3C in the past (USB-A and USB-C), along with the Data Traveler microDUo 3.0 G2—which has microUSB and USB-A ports.
Two capacities are available: 32GB and 64GB. The purchase will also be covered by a five year warranty from Kingston, along with free technical support. Official pricing is as follows:
Kingston DataTraveler Duo 32GB – RM28
Kingston DataTraveler Duo 64GB – RM39
