iPhone 12 goes on sale in Malaysia today

Apple’s latest iPhone 12 series has officially arrived in Malaysia today and it comes in 4 models. Malaysia is also among the first countries in the world to get the largest iPhone 12 Pro Max and the compact iPhone 12 mini.

In terms of colours, the 12 and the 12 mini come in 5 options – White, Black, Blue, Green and Red. Meanwhile, the Pro variants is offered in 4 colours – Graphite, Silver, Gold and Pacific Blue.

These are the first iPhone models to support 5G and they runs on their most powerful 5nm Apple A14 Bionic chip. Although there’s no high refresh rate display, all models including the more affordable iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 are now using OLED panels that pushes at least Full HD resolution.

Wireless charging still comes as standard and Apple has introduced MagSafe for the iPhone which provides greater convenience with faster charging speeds of up to 15W. On top of that, the magnetic back also allows you to attach easy to snap on accessories including a shielded wallet case. You can ‘try out’ the MagSafe accessories with the Apple iPhone 12 Studio.

Take note that the power adapter and EarPods are not included. The original 20W USB-C Power Adapter costs RM99 while the wired EarPods with a lightning connector is also priced at RM99.

Availability

Apple Store at Orchard Road, Singapore

If you’re interested, the new devices are available across all authorised Apple resellers in Malaysia. This includes Machines, Switch, Mac City, Epicentre and electronic store chains such as SenHeng and SenQ.

You can also get it on the official Apple Store on Lazada and authorised Apple retailers on Shopee. For a limited time, Shopee is offering vouchers up to RM400 off for the iPhone 12 series which is applicable for eligible credit card holders.

Alternatively, you can also order directly from Apple’s online store. At the time of writing, the both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini can be shipped in 1 business day. However, the waiting time for the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max is much longer with listed shipping time of 2-3 weeks.

If you prefer to buy it on a contract, the new Apple smartphones are also available from Celcom, Digi, Maxis and U Mobile. All telcos are offering instalment plans with 24-month duration and some still offer the devices on a standard contract.
