[ UPDATE 11/11/2020 16:24 ]: Water supply restoration is in progress. Estimated to be completed fully by 3.00pm on Friday, 13th November. More details here.

[ UPDATE 11/11/2020 07:50 ]: Air Selangor has updated that all four water treatment plants have resumed operations at 2:40am after getting 3 measurements of 0 TON. Water supply will be restored to consumers in phases from 3.00pm this afternoon.

Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS) has reported that the water treatment plants at Rantau Panjang, SSP 1, 2 and 3 have been shutdown due to a new contamination detected at Sungai Selangor. According to their Facebook post, the water treatment plants have stopped operating at 12.45pm today after odour pollution of 8 TON was detected at the Rantau Panjang treatment plant. The reading was at 0 TON this morning at 6am.

Air Selangor has just released a statement that water supply will be disrupted starting today at 6.00pm at several locations in the Klang Valley. This includes Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Kuala Langat. The disruption will affect 1,139,008 account holders in 1,279 areas.

Below is the list of affected areas in the Klang Valley:

Air Selangor is attempting to dilute and to flush out the contaminants in Sungai Selangor by releasing 300 million litres of water from the Sungai Selangor dam and also from the Sungai Tinggi dam which has a capacity of 500 million litres per day. LUAS is also releasing raw water from its KL Larut pond pumping operation that has a capacity of 192 million litres per day.

As of 2.30pm today, the contamination at Rantau Panjang is at 8 TON while SSP 1, 2 and 3 recorded 4 TON. The contamination level is more severe than the previous incident which recorded 1 TON. There’s no estimated restoration time at the moment and Air Selangor will provide updates via its social channels and website.

The last major water disruption was reported last month and it affected close to 1.2 million account holders in 1,292 areas in the Klang Valley. Water supply was fully restored within 5 days.
