COVID-19: 972 new cases today, 370 in Sabah and 260 in Negeri Sembilan

Malaysia has recorded 972 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 41,181. There are 8 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 294.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,345 new recoveries which is the highest recorded in a single day. At the moment, a total of 29,579 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 71.8% while the mortality rate is now 0.7%.

There are currently 11,308 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 86 are in ICU while 31 require respiratory support.

Out of the 972 new cases today, 5 are imported while 967 are transmitted locally. Sabah recorded the most with 370 cases, followed by Negeri Sembilan with 260 cases, Selangor with 138 cases and Labuan with 63 cases.

The Ministry has identified 6 new clusters today. This includes Nahaba cluster in Kota Belud and Numbak cluster in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. In the Klang Valley, there’s the Perigi cluster in Klang, Seri Terapi cluster which covers Kepong (as well as Alor Gajah in Melaka) and Harmoni cluster in Putrajaya. There’s also a new Padang cluster identified in Kota Tinggi, Johor.

A total of 48 active clusters have reported new cases today. The Cergas cluster in Negeri Sembilan reported the most with 130 cases, followed by the Kaya cluster which covers 6 states and territories with 57 cases, Rengas cluster in Perak with 50 cases and Lengkuk cluster which covers both Selangor and Negeri Sembilan with 42 cases.
