COVID-19: 1,009 new cases today, 564 in Sabah and 180 in Selangor

Malaysia has recorded 1,009 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 36,434. There are 6 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 277.

The Ministry of Health has reported 839 new recoveries and a total of 25,654 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 70.4% while the mortality rate is now 0.8%.

There are currently 10,503 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 78 are in ICU while 28 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,009 new cases today, 9 are imported while 1,000 are transmitted locally. Sabah recorded the most with 564 new cases, followed by Selangor with 180 cases (including 3 imported), Labuan with 95 cases (including 3 imported) and Negeri Sembilan with 90 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 5 new clusters today. This include Sutera and Ria clusters in Sabah, Tamar cluster in Selangor, Intan cluster in Pulau Pinang and Danau cluster in Kuala Lumpur.

A total of 37 active cluster have recorded new cases today. The Sandakan prison cluster reported the most with 73 cases, followed by Cergas cluster with 50 cases, Kaya cluster with 31 cases, Usaha cluster with 23 cases and Hentian cluster with 22 cases.
