Oppo A73 Malaysia: Everything you need to know

Oppo Malaysia has announced the A73, a new mid-range smartphone that comes with a leather-like back. The device is currently available for pre-order and early bird customers will also get additional freebies.

Pricing and availability

The Oppo A73 is officially priced at RM899 in Malaysia and pre-orders are now running until the 10th of November. As an introductory offer, the first 300 customers will get extra freebies including a fitness band and double My Oppo App points.

If you’re interested, you can pre-order the device now via Shopee or through Oppo’s online store. The device comes in two colour options – Navy Blue and Dynamic Orange.

Hardware Specs

The Oppo A73 comes with a 6.44″ Full HD+ AMOLED display that boasts a 90.7% screen-to-body ratio. The display uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and it also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Under the hood, it runs on a Snapdragon 662 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which is expandable via microSD.

The A72’s main highlight is its leather-like back which looks like Vegan leather. According to Oppo’s product page, the rear cover is actually made out of plastic but they have applied a special texture which gives it a leather texture. It also clarified that no genuine or synthetic leather is used on the device.

For taking pictures, the device gets a quad-camera setup that’s housed in a square camera bump. This consists of a 16MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and two 2MP cameras for depth effects. Upfront, the tiny notch houses a 16MP selfie shooter.

Keeping the lights on is a 4,015mAh battery and it supports 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 via USB-C. The device still comes with a 3.5mm headphone. Out of the box, it runs on Android 10 with Oppo’s ColorOS 7.2 skin on top.
